when you're trans and have an 'androgynous' deadname & when you change it and everyone reacts like "well why can't we keep calling you ******? it already works as a ****'s name!"

1 boost = 1 dislike

"how about sarah instead? if you were a girl I would've named you sarah" – my mom, the night I came out to her 🙄

@jennie i have an androgynous middle name and I kinda sorta like it but I'm not sure if it's enough to keep it

@moviewitch my deadname is probably more common for girls than boys, but I still can't help but think of it as a boy's name because that's how it was used on me for 24 years

@jennie yeah absolutely. Even if it's neutral or girl leaning it's still intrinsically linked to That Time In Your Life

about deadname

@moviewitch @jennie we don’t even have grammatical gender and I’m like ****

about deadname

@zoec @moviewitch what's your first language, if you don't mind me asking?

@moviewitch @jennie
I have an androgynous given name too and I hate its guts so I replaced it with a better one lol

@jennie in my sheltered liberal arts college social group you can change your name as many times as you want for whatever reason you need. Which is ideal.
